I provide specialist training for clinicians working in ADHD and autism diagnostic services, grounded in current NICE guidance, evidence‑based assessment tools, and the real‑world complexity of diagnostic practice.

My training is designed to support safe, ethical and clinically defensible assessment practice across NHS and independent settings.

Adult ADHD Assessor Training

NICE‑Aligned • DIVA‑5 Based • Clinically Defensible Practice

This one‑day training is designed for healthcare professionals involved in children and young people (*ages 7-17) ADHD diagnostic assessment, providing a clear, structured and NICE‑aligned approach using the DIVA‑5 diagnostic interview.

The focus is not simply on applying a tool, but on developing clinical judgement, diagnostic confidence and good governance, ensuring assessments are robust, ethical and defensible.

  • Psychiatrists and Speciality Doctors

  • General Practitioners and Clinical Pharmacists

  • Allied Health Professionals working within ADHD pathways

  • Clinicians supporting or contributing to ADHD diagnostic services

*Participants are expected to hold appropriate professional registration and to work within the scope of their role and service governance.


What You Will Learn

By the end of the day, participants will be able to:

  • Apply NICE NG87 requirements to adult ADHD assessment

  • Conduct a structured ADHD diagnostic interview using DIVA‑5

  • Gather and evaluate developmental and collateral evidence

  • Identify differential diagnoses and common co‑occurring conditions

  • Formulate clear, evidence‑linked diagnostic conclusions

  • Produce professionally defensible ADHD assessment reports suitable for clinical review, audit and external scrutiny


Training Content

1. ADHD Foundations & Clinical Standards
Understanding ADHD across the lifespan, diagnostic thresholds, and what NICE guidance requires in practice.

2. Assessment Pathways & Pre‑Assessment Screening
Structured assessment processes, screening tools, and determining readiness for full diagnostic assessment.

3. Using the DIVA‑5 in Practice
Conducting the DIVA‑5 interview, scoring, managing ambiguity, and recognising common pitfalls.

4. Third Party Information/ Informants

How to gather and evaluate developmental and collateral evidence.

5. Differential Diagnosis & Complexity
Distinguishing ADHD from trauma, autism, mood disorders and other overlapping presentations.

6. Diagnostic Formulation & Report Writing
Linking evidence clearly to criteria, writing clear reports, and supporting good clinical governance.

2 full days (live online)

Interactive case discussion and applied learning, therefore, you will be required to keep your camera on at all times and actively participate in the training.

Certificate provided on full completion of the course (*you will need to attend the whole training to receive this)
